This concert brings together two musical worlds: Belgian Romanticism and the richness of Brazilian music, all guided by the warm voice of the viola. At the centre of the programme is the Sonata for Viola and Piano by Vieuxtemps, a major figure in Belgian music, a profound and expressive work that showcases the full richness of the viola, accompanied by his moving Élégie. Then there's a vibrant journey to the heart of Brazil with Guerra Peixe, Villa-Lobos and Chiquinha Gonzaga, with their spellbinding lyricism and danceable rhythms, including the famous Bachianas No. 5 and the elegant Atraente. This concert is an invitation to explore these contrasts, to feel the emotion and energy that run through these works, and to share a unique musical moment together. Palloma Izidio Brazilian violist Palloma Izidio got her start with Projeto Música nas Escolas in Rio de Janeiro, before playing with the Barra Mansa Symphony Orchestra on tour with prestigious ballets such as Milan's Ballet Alla Sacala and the Bolshoi Ballet, and artists such as Gal Costa and João Bosco.
In 2015, she joined the Opes Youth Academy and then the Baccarelli Institute, where she studied with Gabriel Marin and was viola soloist with the Heliópolis Symphony Orchestra (2018-2020). On this occasion, she performed at the Sala São Paulo and the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo and played alongside Victor Julien-Laferrière, Isaac Karabtchevsky, Gilberto Gil and Alcione. She performs as viola soloist with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra de Camera de l'Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Bruxelles and the quartet ‘Les Altistes’. In August 2025, she went on tour with the Nationaal Jeugdorkest, performing at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Konzerthaus in Berlin. At the same time, she specialised in music production at the Berklee Online Campus.
